red light/ blue smoothies and what we do
In a world filled with toxins, processed foods, and artificial everything, it’s no wonder people are constantly battling fatigue, inflammation, and brain fog. But what if the answers aren’t as complicated as we’ve been led to believe?
Over the years, my husband and I have experimented with different biohacking tools to optimize our energy, recovery, and overall well-being. I want to share what has worked for us—not as medical advice, but as an invitation for you to dive deeper, do your own research, and make informed decisions for yourself and your family.
Podcasts & Books to Start With
If you’re new to health optimization, I highly recommend listening to Casey Means’ “Good Energy.” It’s a great starting point, and you can even find it for free on Spotify—perfect for listening in the car with your kids to plant those seeds of wellness early.
If you’re ready to explore deeper biohacks, check out the Danny Jones Podcast. He interviews some of the best minds in health, including Dr. Jack Kruse, a neurosurgeon who has used infrared light and methylene blue during brain surgeries with incredible results.
For those looking to learn more about methylene blue, there’s a fantastic book called The Ultimate Guide to Methylene Blue, and the best part? Many books like this are available for free on Spotify! You get 15 hours of free listening, so take advantage of it.
Methylene Blue: The Ultimate Cellular Energizer
Methylene blue isn’t new—it’s been around for over a century, but its benefits are just now gaining attention in the biohacking world.
Why We Use Methylene Blue:
- Boosts energy at a cellular level by supporting mitochondrial function
- Enhances cognitive function (sharpens focus, memory, and mental clarity)
- Acts as a potent antioxidant (neutralizes oxidative stress)
- Has anti-inflammatory properties
- Improves oxygenation in the body
How We Use It:
- During summer, we take methylene blue and get direct sunlight exposure for a mitochondrial boost.
- During Vancouver’s gloomy months, we pair it with infrared light therapy indoors.
You can find methylene blue online (I ironically get mine on Amazon), but make sure you’re getting USP-grade, high-purity versions.
Our Daily Biohacking Routine
Here’s what works for both me and my husband to keep our energy high and recovery optimal:
Morning Routine:
- Methylene Blue – Helps with mitochondrial function and mental clarity.http://Methylene Blue 1% Solution 3.4 Fl Oz – 100 ml | Liquid | Drops | Pharma Grade Ingredients – Third-Party Tested | Heiltropfen®
- Infrared Light Therapy – Supports cellular energy production, especially in winter.
- NMN (Nicotinamide Mononucleotide) – A precursor to NAD+ that boosts longevity and energy.https://www.iherb.com/pal/referral/pdp/LIM6880?productId=126768&rcode=LIM6880&utm_medium=appshare
- Peruvian Maca – Great for hormone balance, stamina, and stress adaptation.
- Time-Release Niacin – Supports detoxification and circulatory health.
- Cod Liver Oil – Provides essential omega-3s, vitamin A, and vitamin D.
Magnesium: The Essential Missing Link
Most people are deficient in magnesium, and it’s one of the biggest game-changers for health. We incorporate it into our routine in multiple ways:
- Magnesium Oil Spray – Applied in the morning before getting dressed.
- Magnesium Body Butter (“Potty Butter”) – Used at night on the soles of our feet for deeper relaxation and sleep.
- Magnesium Bath Flakes – We dump magnesium into our baths, and our hot tub is a magnesium soak instead of chlorine!
If you think you’re using too much magnesium, you’re probably not. Just like we need a lot of water, light, and air, we also need a lot of magnesium for proper function.
Food, Cooking, & Smart Meal Prep
We make almost all our meals at home using whole, unprocessed ingredients.
One of the best tools in my kitchen? A Thermomix. It:
- Organizes my shopping list
- Helps me cook seasonally
- Makes incredible gluten-free, flourless breads, cookies, and snacks

Why does this matter? Because most processed foods destroy mitochondrial function, making it harder for our bodies to heal, recover, and thrive.
