Fresh Matters: Why Mila Earth Products Don’t Last Forever
One of the questions I occasionally receive is:
“Is my magnesium body butter still good after two or three years?”
And the honest answer is — probably not the way it was meant to be used.
At Mila Earth Inc., we make small-batch products using high-quality, fresh ingredients. Our shea butter is sourced from Ghana, our oils are carefully selected, and everything is produced in small runs so that what you receive is usually less than a month old when it leaves our hands.

This is intentional.
We believe body care should be more like food than like industrial cosmetics.
Think about it this way: if you bought a beautiful bottle of fresh olive oil from a small producer in Italy, you wouldn’t expect it to sit in your cupboard for five years. Oils naturally oxidize over time. They change, and eventually they go rancid.
The same principle applies to skincare made with real ingredients.
Why Freshness Matters
Most mass-produced cosmetics on store shelves are designed to last for many years. In order to achieve that, they often require heavy preservative systems and stabilizers so they can survive warehouses, shipping, and long retail storage.
That’s not how we approach formulation.
At Mila Earth, we focus on:
• small-batch production
• fresh ingredients
• minimal processing
• natural preservation when possible
Our goal is not to create products that sit on a shelf forever — our goal is to create products that are alive, effective, and fresh when you use them.
A Good Guideline for Our Products
Magnesium Body Butter
- Best used within 6–12 months
- Can last up to 18 months due to vitamin E and natural stability
- Temperature changes can cause the butter to expand and contract, which may change the texture over time — this is normal for natural products.
Magnesium Oil & Bath Flakes
- Extremely stable
- Can last for many years if stored sealed and dry
Think of Body Care Like Fresh Food
Fresh skincare is a lot like fresh dairy or fermented foods.
If you buy a beautiful cultured yogurt or a jar of sauerkraut from a small producer, you know it’s going to last for a while — but not forever. The quality comes from the freshness and the care taken in making it.
Natural oils behave the same way. Eventually, all oils oxidize.
That’s why we encourage people to buy fresh, use their products regularly, and replenish them when they run out — rather than keeping them in a cupboard for years.
The Mila Earth Philosophy
For nearly two decades we have chosen the path of small-batch, high-quality production instead of mass industrial cosmetics.
We source carefully.
We make products in small runs.
We ship them fresh.
It has taken years to refine this process so people around the world can receive products that still feel freshly made.
You won’t find us operating like a warehouse store with products designed to last forever.
Instead, we focus on what we believe matters most:
fresh ingredients, thoughtful formulation, and real effectiveness.
Because what you put on your body should be just as alive and intentional as what you put on your plate.
