Magnesium Chloride Bath Flakes

A warm magnesium bath is one of the oldest rituals there is. For most of human history, people bathed in mineral springs, swam in the ocean and soaked in natural hot water. Our bath flakes bring that ritual home: pour them into a warm bath, sink in and give yourself twenty quiet minutes at the end of the day.

Magnesium chloride is the same mineral salt found in seawater and natural hot springs. It dissolves quickly in warm water and turns an ordinary bath into a mineral soak. Unlike Epsom salt, which is magnesium sulfate, magnesium chloride gives a distinctly different, silky soaking experience that many of our customers notice in their very first bath.

Many people take one bath and come back for the big bag the next day.

Our magnesium

We use food-grade magnesium chloride hexahydrate flakes, chosen for quality, consistency and value, and bought directly from the manufacturer. Origin tells you where magnesium came from. Testing tells you what is actually in it. If you'd like to know more, just ask me.

How to Use

• Add 1 cup to a full bath, or ½ cup to a warm foot soak.
• Soak for 20 to 45 minutes.
• Drink a glass of water afterward.

After your bath cools, the mineral water can go on your garden plants (avoid delicate seedlings). Plain, unscented flakes may also suit some hot tub systems, but always check your manufacturer's guidelines first.

Magnesium Bath Flakes: Common Questions

How should I use them?
Use them in a warm bath or a foot soak: 1 cup per bath is a great start, and 1 to 3 cups depending on how you like it. On the days when you're at the end of your rope, don't be shy, use more than one cup! Soak for at least 20 minutes. For years I used an inflatable hot tub filled with magnesium flakes, and now that we have a proper hot tub I still add plain flakes to it. Some of our clients soak in magnesium every single day. After many thousands of conversations over 20 years, what I hear again and again is that a regular magnesium bath has become one of the most comforting parts of their routine.

How often?
At least once a week. Katerina soaks 2 to 3 times a week herself.

Is it the same as Epsom salt?
No. Epsom salt is magnesium sulfate. Our flakes are magnesium chloride, the same mineral salt found in the ocean and hot springs, and many people notice the difference in their very first bath.

Which size is best value?
If you bathe regularly, the 20-cup Big Bertha and 50-cup Giant bags cost far less per bath. (Note: those two sizes aren't included in free shipping because of their weight.)
