Inspired by The Amazing Liver & Gallbladder Flush by Andreas Moritz, this cleanse is designed to detoxify, renew, and heal. If you’ve been feeling sluggish, dealing with digestive issues, or simply seeking a fresh start for your health, this cleanse could be life-changing.

Why Cleanse Your Liver and Gallbladder?

The liver is the body’s natural filter, removing toxins and producing bile to aid digestion. However, with stress, processed foods, and pollutants, our liver can become sluggish, which can lead to digestive issues, low energy, skin problems, and even increased stress on the heart. By cleansing, you’re supporting your liver and gallbladder to work more effectively, releasing toxins, stones, and any built-up waste.

Benefits of a Liver and Gallbladder Cleanse:

  • Improved Digestion and Nutrient Absorption: Clearing stones allows bile to flow freely, improving digestion and helping your body absorb essential nutrients.
  • Enhanced Energy and Clarity: As the liver detoxifies, many people experience a significant boost in energy, mental clarity, and overall vitality.
  • Reduced Inflammation and Pain Relief: Removing toxins and stones can lower inflammation in the body, potentially reducing joint pain, headaches, and even skin conditions.
  • Balanced Hormones and Lowered Blood Pressure: With a healthier liver, hormone levels become more balanced, which can also help stabilize blood pressure.
  • Clearer Skin and Eyes: Detoxing the liver often results in brighter, clearer skin, as well as brighter eyes and a more radiant appearance.

Preparing for the Cleanse (Days 1-5)

To make the cleanse effective, preparation is essential. Here’s how to start:

  1. Choose a Juice for Softening Stones: Select a high-acid juice, such as organic pomegranate, tart cherry, apple, or cranberry. These juices contain compounds that soften gallstones, making it easier for them to pass during the cleanse. Aim for nearly 1 liter (946 mL) each day, preferably on an empty stomach between meals.
  2. Eat Unprocessed, Low-Protein Foods: Focus on natural, unprocessed foods with low protein to reduce the load on your liver. For instance, fresh vegetables, fruits, and whole grains are excellent choices. Avoid oils on day 6, as they can interfere with the cleanse.
  3. Gather Your Supplies: For day six, make sure to have:
    • At least 6 liters of juice
    • A high-quality, organic olive oil
    • Fresh grapefruits (enough to make 3/4 cup of juice)
    • Magnesium salts like Epsom salts, magnesium chloride, or magnesium citrate

The Cleanse Protocol (Day 6 – Detox Day)

Morning:
Drink 1 liter of your chosen juice in one sitting. This helps finish the stone-softening process, preparing your liver for release.

Breakfast & Lunch:
Have a light, low-fat breakfast with no protein, and eat your last meal before 1 PM. Keeping your diet fat-free ensures your digestive enzymes are ready for the olive oil later.

Magnesium Drink Preparation (5:30 PM):
Dissolve 3 Tbsp of magnesium salts in 24 oz of water, then divide this into four glasses. This magnesium drink is a strong diuretic and will trigger a bowel movement, clearing the way for stone release.

Magnesium Drink Schedule:

  • 6 PM: Drink the first glass of magnesium water.
  • 8 PM: Drink the second glass. Be prepared for bowel movements as the magnesium does its work to cleanse and prepare your system.

The Special Olive Oil and Grapefruit Cocktail (9:30 PM):
Prepare 3/4 cup fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice and 1/2 cup of olive oil. Place it in a jar with a lid and shake it vigorously to mix. By 10 PM, stand by your bed, drink the mixture all at once, and lie down immediately with your head slightly elevated by pillows. Go to sleep with minimal movement to encourage the liver to flush stones.

The Morning After (Day 7)

6 AM and 8 AM:
Upon waking, take your third glass of magnesium water, followed by the fourth glass two hours later. This will clear out your large intestine and help release softened stones from the liver and gallbladder.

What to Expect:
By the morning, you may notice small, soft stones in your bowel movements—some may float, while others sink. This is a sign that your liver is releasing impurities.

Continuing the Cleanse

Moritz recommends repeating the cleanse every six weeks until no more stones are present. Many people find the results accumulate with each cleanse, bringing about deeper levels of energy, mental clarity, and digestive health.

Additional Tips for Enhanced Results

  • Daily Hot Water Routine: Moritz suggests drinking at least one large cup of water boiled for 20 minutes each day. This oxygenates the water, drawing out toxins and supporting kidney health.
  • Kidney Tea: For ongoing kidney support, Moritz recommends a special tea blend—details are in his book—that can aid in cleansing this critical organ.

Final Thoughts

While the liver and gallbladder cleanse may seem intense, many report feeling an immediate sense of rejuvenation, mental clarity, and improved well-being. My own experience with this protocol has been incredibly positive, with noticeable benefits like reduced blood pressure, clearer skin, and a general feeling of lightness and vitality. I encourage anyone interested to explore this cleanse and read Moritz’s book for detailed guidance and additional health tips.
