DIY Liquid Paper Paste for Moldable Designs

I don’t know about you, but I’m always looking for a project to do together so if you’re kicking around, we will definitely be doing this in our yard on our very large market tables. Very welcome to come by have a glass of wine and design with us.

let’s create

🧴 Ingredients:

  • ½ cup white glue (like Elmer’s or any PVA glue)
  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • ¼ cup white flour
  • 1 tbsp vinegar or lemon juice (preservative + flexibility)
  • 1 tbsp glycerin (optional — adds stretch/flex)
  • A few drops of essential oil (optional — for scent)
  • Water as needed to thin to piping consistency

🥣 Instructions:

  1. Mix dry ingredients (flour + cornstarch) in a bowl.
  2. Add glue, vinegar, and glycerin, and stir until smooth.
  3. Slowly add water (1 tsp at a time) until the paste is thick like pancake batter or squeezable frosting.
  4. Pour or scoop into a squeeze bottle or piping bag.
  5. Draw your designs onto wax paper or silicone mat—swirls, shapes, names, mandalas.
  6. Let it dry overnight or up to 24 hours (depending on thickness).
  7. Once dry, peel it off gently—it will be flexible and slightly bendable like craft foam.

🛠️ Tips:

  • Add tempera paint or food coloring for fun colors.
  • Use a toothpick to drag lines or do henna-style designs.
  • Dry near a fan or sunny window for faster results.
  • Works well for window clings, 3D scrapbooking, or fairy garden signage.
